SACRAMENTO, CA — The California Asian American & Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus (AAPILC) today announced its elected leadership for the 2027–28 Legislative Session.

The Caucus has elected Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen to serve as Chair, Senator Christopher Cabaldon to serve as Vice Chair, and Assemblymember John Harabedian to serve as Parliamentarian for the 2027-28 Legislative Session.

SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Legislative Caucus today announced its budget priorities for the 2026–27 state budget, outlining key investments aimed at combating hate, addressing food insecurity, expanding educational opportunity, improving language access in the courts, and strengthening culturally responsive healthcare. 

The California Asian American & Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus, in partnership with the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs (CAPIAA) and Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE), condemns the federal administration’s decision to eliminate critical funding for Minority-Serving Institutions. This harmful action by the Trump administration undermines the mission of these institutions, which are dedicated to expanding opportunity, fostering success, and contributing to the strength of our society.

On Saturday, September 20, Governor Newsom signed a comprehensive five-bill immigration package aimed at pushing back against federal immigration raids and protecting immigrant communities. The package includes AB 49 (Asm. Muratsuchi), which restricts immigration enforcement officers from entering schools without a judicial warrant; SB 627 (Sen. Wiener), which prohibits law enforcement from concealing their identities during operations; SB 805 (Sen.

SACRAMENTO, CA — The California Asian American and Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus (AAPILC) elected Assemblymember Mike Fong (D-Alhambra) as Chair, Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen (D-Elk Grove) as Assembly Vice-Chair, and Dr. Aisha Wahab (D-Silicon Valley) as Senate Vice-Chair. As Chair, Assemblymember Fong also appointed Assemblymember Alex Lee as Parliamentarian. The new leadership took office on August 14, 2024.
