The CA Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus Applauds the U.S. Department of Labor for Taking Action Against a Silicon Valley Software Company Accused of Systematically Discriminating Against Asian Job Applicants

The U.S. Department of Labor has filed a lawsuit accusing Palantir Technologies, a Silicon Valley software company of systematically discriminating against Asian job applicants in its hiring practices. The company produces data analytics software used by U.S. military, intelligence and law enforcement agencies, along with banks, insurance companies and other non-government clients.

The following is a statement by Assemblymember Rob Bonta, Chairman of the Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus:

“The API Caucus is deeply troubled by these claims of discrimination by Palantir Technologies. Discrimination is never justifiable, and it is disgraceful that this remains an issue in 2016.  Successful companies understand that a diverse workforce adds value and maximizes creativity and productivity.  California tech companies are the most innovative in the world, but businesses must do more to reflect our great diversity in their workforce.

The API Caucus is committed to seeing that all workers and those seeking employment are protected from all forms of discrimination.

As the Chair of the API Caucus, I call on Palantir Technologies to carefully examine its hiring practices, root out any racially discriminatory practices, and provide education to all hiring managers on EEO laws and increase diversity in their recruiting process.”

The California Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus represents and advocates for the interests of the diverse API communities throughout California. It seeks to increase Asian Pacific Islander participation and representation in all levels of government.
